Uses
Elder is associated with protection, blessing, fae and nature-spirit lore, healing traditions, and themes of death, transformation, and rebirth. In European folklore it is often treated as a liminal plant connected with sacred ground and the Elder Mother.
In Practice
Use elder flowers, imagery, or fallen twigs in altar work for blessing, transformation, or nature-spirit themes, and carry a small symbolic piece for protection. Treat raw plant parts cautiously; if the working does not require physical elder, a drawing or carved symbol works just as well.
